This project successfully refined methods for assembling fibers comprised of single wall carbon nanotubes and ropes (bundles of tens of tubes) where the individual tubes are well aligned along the fiber axis. The aligned fibers had diameters up to 10 micrometers and lengths up to a centimeter. Techniques for assaying the quality of the alignment were developed. Further details are deferred to a future publication slated for submission to a refereed journal.
