Fri May 29 noon Earliest check-in time at Apartment Residence Facility.
Tue Jun 1   FIRST DAY OF REU PROGRAM.
    9 am Campus tour for non-UF participants. Meet at main desk of Apartment Residence Facility.
    noon Welcome lunch in Physics for participants, faculty mentors, and departmental representatives.
    1 pm Departmental orientation. Introduction of key personnel, overview of computer facilities and lab saftey issues, tour of Physics building.
Fri Jun 4 3 pm Computer orientation.
Sat Jun 5 10 am to
mid-pm 		Picnic at Lake Wauburg for participants in all UF REUs. Transportation will be available.
Mon Jun 7 1-4 pm Lab safety workshop in Room 202, Particle Science Building. Meet at 12:45 pm in main lobby of Physics Building.
Tue Jun 8 9 am to
noon 		Communication workshop 1 (Writing standards) in Room 202, Particle Science Building.
Wed Jun 9 9 am to
noon 		Communication workshop 2 (Writing standards) in Room 202, Particle Science Building.
Fri Jun 11 3 pm Seminar: Black Holes, Dr. Steve Detweiler (UF Physics) in 2165 NPB (IFT Conference Room).
Fri Jun 18 3 pm Seminar: Getting into Graduate School, Dr. Alan Dorsey (UF Physics).
Tue Jun 22 3 pm Field trip to UF Brain Institute. Meet at 2:45 in main lobby of Physics Building.
Fri Jun 25 3 pm Seminar: Microgravity Experiments Performed on the Space Shuttle, Dr. Mark Meisel (UF Physics) and Dr. Anna-Lisa Paul (UF Horticultural Sciences).
Mon Jun 28 9 am Deadline for draft of first writing assignment. Submit to Nancy Sorkin, Engineering Research Center (tel. 846-1194).

1:45 pm 		Visit of REU/RET participants from the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee: Lunch followed by brief presentations in 2205 NPB.
Thu Jul 15 9 am to
noon 		Communication workshop 5 (Hands-on training in Powerpoint) in Room E211, Computer Science & Engineering. Note special venue.
Fri Jul 16 all day Field trip to National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee.
Fri Jul 23 3 pm Presentation by the five RET teachers: Perspectives on teaching and tips for effective communication.
Tue Jul 27 9 am to
noon 		Communication workshop 6 (Individual meetings) in Room 202, Particle Science Building. Students will be receive feedback on their writing assignments during 10-minute slots scheduled either on July 27 or July 28.
Wed Jul 28 9 am to
noon 		Communication workshop 7 (Individual meetings, continued) in Room 202, Particle Science Building.
Wed Jul 28 all day NOTE CHANGE OF DATE!
Field trip to CREOL (University of Central Florida) and Cirent Semiconductor, both in Orlando.
Fri Jul 30 1 pm Field trip to Microkelvin Laboratory. Meet at 12:45 in main lobby of Physics Building.
Fri Jul 30 5 pm Deadline for submission of first draft of research report to Kevin Ingersent (2162 NPB).
Mon Aug 2 9 am to
noon 		Communication workshop 8 (Practice talks) in Room 202, Particle Science Building. Students will practice their oral presentations and receive constructive feedback.
Wed Aug 4 1 pm Deadline for submission of final draft of research report to Kevin Ingersent (2162 NPB).
Wed Aug 4 1-4 pm Student presentations.

Fri Aug 6   LAST DAY OF REU PROGRAM.
