Summer 2000 Research Program:
Research Experiences for Undergraduates/
Research Experiences for Teachers

REU Students The Department of Physics at the University of Florida offers a 10-week summer research program for undergraduates (REU) and an 8-week program for in-service teachers (RET). These activities are supported by the National Science Foundation.
The Summer 2000 REU program ran from May 30 to August 4, inclusive. Fifteen participants conducted a research project in the department, and also took part in group activities, which included seminars on cutting-edge areas of science; workshops focusing on graduate programs, career opportunities in the physical sciences, and scientific communications skills; and field trips to Cirent Semiconductor in Orlando and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee.
