Summer 2003 Research Program:
Research Experiences for Undergraduates
The Department of Physics at the University of Florida offers a
10-week summer research program for undergraduates contemplating
a career in physics or a related field.
This Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program is supported
by the National Science Foundation and the University of Florida.
The Summer 2003 REU program ran from Tuesday May 27 through
Friday August 1.
Fourteen participants conducted a research project
in the department and took part in group
activities, which included seminars on cutting-edge areas of physics;
workshops focusing on graduate programs, career opportunities in the physical
sciences, and scientific communications skills;
and a field trip to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee.
