Research Experiences for Undergraduates

UF Physics Building The Department of Physics at the University of Florida offers a 10-week summer research program for undergraduates contemplating a career in physics or a related field. This Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program is supported by the National Science Foundation and the University of Florida.

REU student in the lab The Summer 2008 REU program ran from May 27 through July 30. Fifteen participants conducted a research project in the department and took part in group activities including seminars on cutting-edge areas of physics; workshops focusing on graduate programs, career opportunities in the physical sciences, and scientific communications skills; and a field trip to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee.
