Issue: Networking and server issues first reported at approximately 11:45am in various locations throughout the Physics Building.

• Details: A hard drive issue on Neptune prevented users from being able to access various network resources such as printing, e-mail, the Internet, and homre directory storage. Linux users also might have experienced the ability to not start new terminal windows, or login to their machine.

• Rooms/Area Effected: Entire Physics Building

Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 Released

• Details: This feature update contains numerous security and stability and security improvements to the overall experience of the program.

• July 27^th, 2006

Firefox 1.5.0.5 Released

• Details: This feature update contains numerous security and stability and security improvements to the overall experience of the program.

• June 30^th, 2006

OpenOffice.Org 2.0.3 Office Suite Released

• Details: This feature update contains numerous bugfixes and various improvements to the overall experience of the program, including improved compatibility with Microsoft Office documents.

• June 21^st, 2006

Issue: Network outage reported approximately 7:45am in the northeast corner of the first floor of the Physics Building

• Details: The main Cisco Catalyst 2926 switch that feeds this closet's network ports failed. A replacement switch was temporarily installed until more diagnostics can be completed on the Cisco Catalyst 2926.

• Rooms/Area Effected: NE Corner of First Floor - 1100, 1101, 1114, 1116, 1140, 1200, 1202, 1208, 1210, 1212, 1213, 1215, 1216, 1219, 1220

New content added: How can I get support?

• A new content section for how members of the Physics Department can obtain computer related support.

New content added: How can I check my E-mail?

• Revised/Updated content to include how to send e-mail via UF's SMTP (outgoing mail) server. Recent changes to UF's SMTP server in mid/late May 2006 necessitated this content be updated so that department members could send e-mail from off-campus locations.
