Software Available to the Physics Department Faculty and Staff

The Physics Department at the University of Florida has a wide variety of software available for its faculty, staff, and students. Many of these software packages are already installed on our departmental computers, and other software packages can be installed by request or after the purchase of a software license. To find out more about the software available to our department, please chose from the software categories presented below.

In addition to the different software categories presented below, we maintain an updated listing of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) programs on the left at all times. Many, if not all, of these applications are included an any computer that was given a "Standard Windows Installation".

ANY program listed on the left in the FOSS category is FREELY available for download by ANYONE (family, friends, students, etc.). It is highly adviseable to use these programs on any computer, as many are known for their strong security, ease of use, automatic upgrade capabilities, and other fine features.

Note: While much of the software contained in these pages is for the Windows Operating System, there are some programs that are useable on multiple platforms. Any piece of software listed should only be considered compatible with Windows, unless otherwise noted.
