RESULTS
Exam 1
  • Problems & Solutions
  • Scores & Distribution
  • Your answers & Correct answers
  • Note:
Your curved score is out of 25, for each midterm is worth 25% of your overall course grade. Several questions are a little bit too tough or tricky, and there were three problems which less than 30% of the students answered correctly. Thus I dropped three problems from your grade; you can calculate your curved score as follows:
    Curved Score = (Raw Score/12)*25
If you got the curved score higher than 20 (approximately A - A minus range), then you are in a good standing, and probably you don't want to take the make-up exam to replace your Exam 1 score. (Note your score on the make-up replace one of your midterm scores even if it is lower than either of your two midterm scores.) If your score is between 15 and 20 (approximately B plus - C plus range), then you might want to take the make-up, depending on the grade you are aiming for. If your score is less than 15 (approximately C - E range), it is advisable to work harder, get a better score on Exam 2 and replace your Exam 1 score by taking the make-up.
Exam 2
Make-up Exam
  • Problems
  • Scores
  • Your answers & Correct answers
  • Note:
Problem #13 (on the master exam) was found to have no correct answer listed; all the exponents in the choices should have been negative. This question has been omitted so your raw score is taken out of 14 possible questions. The number of correct answers as well as your score out of the possible 25 points are listed in the Scores link above.
Final Exam
  • Problems
  • Scores
  • Note:
The final exam appears to be somewhat more difficult than intended. There were 3 problems that 20% or less of the class got correct; your final score will be the number correct out of 15 (instead of 18). The final exam is worth 30% of your grade. To calculate your score: take the number correct, divide by 15 and multiply by 30. These numbers are shown in the link above.

Due to the difficulty of the exams throughout the course we have slightly amended the grading scale as written on the syllabus. Each grade cutoff has been lowered by 2%, shown below.
    A: 100-83%
    A-: 78-82.99%
    B+: 73-77.99%
    B: 68-72.99%
    B-: 63-67.99%
    C+: 58-62.99%
    C: 53-57.99%
    C-: 48-52.99%
    D+: 43-47.99%
    D: 38-42.99%
    D-: 33-37.99%

    To calculate your final grade:
    Final Grade = (exam 1 score)*25 + (exam 2 score)*25 + (HITT score)*20 + (Final exam score)*30
