EXAMS:

Each exam consists of 15 multiple choice questions. As explained in the syllabus, at least one third of the problems are from homework assignments. Hence I recommend that you first review homework problems. (You are working on them on a weekly basis, right?) This time, you need to be able to solve questions without referring your textbook or solutions. Also, you should be able to solve them in relatively short amount of time. You have to solve 15 problems in 75 minutes. Therefore on average, you can only spend 5 minutes on each problem. You may spend 7 or 8 minutes on a difficult problem, but most probably you do not want to spend more than 10 minutes. Several problems will be chosen from sample problems worked in class or clicker problems. Thus you need to check your notes. If you have trouble understanding any of the worked examples, do not hesitate walk in my office and ask questions. I will put a couple of conceptual questions. They are very basic and their answers are all written in your textbook. Reread your textbook. At least you should recheck the facts and concepts written in bold.

SAMPLE EXAMS:

Solving past exams might be useful to get the feel of solving a fixed number of problems in a limited time. However, you should not expect that exam problems this semester are similar to the past exam problems. Each instructor has his/her preference and I will make exams based on our textbook, lectures and homework assignments. If you still want to try past exams, start with the ones from Summer 2010. Since I contributed half of the problems, similar problems might appear in your exams.
