WebAssign Homework Information:

We are using the WebAssign homework system. This is a commercial product linked to our textbook. The questions are taken from those at the end of the chapters, but the numbers are "personalized" so each student gets a slightly different question.

To use the system you need to be entered into the class roster for this course on WebAssign, AND you will need a WebAssign "access code".

If you have purchased the bundle of parts 1 and 2 of the book together with the WebAssign card, that card will give you the access code. This is the recommended way of getting it. If you did not do this, you can buy the WebAssign card separately at the bookstore, or register on-line using a credit card.

We uploaded the class list from the registrar's office to WebAssign before the first class. Therefore, if you were registered for class at that time your name should be on the WebAssign roster. You login name for WebAssign is your UFID. Your password is also set to the same name "gators". Once you have entered the system, you should change this password!

If you are not on the roster, you should e-mail, Ian Vega (vega@phys.ufl.edu) your name UFID and GatorLink ID. He can add you. He can also help with any other logistical problems.

When you enter the site, it asks for your (WebAssign) access code. You can try it for one week without registering, but after that grace period access will be blocked.

Each homework is due on Sundays at 11 p.m. The answers are numerical, and need to be within a couple of percent of the correct answer. You get instant feedback as to whether the answer is correct or not. You may have up to 6 attempts at getting the answer. Note that the value of g in WebAssign is 9.8 in SI units.

Homework is 15% of the course grade, and it is an easy 15% for those who work hard! Do not hesitate to ask for help. The important thing is to UNDERSTAND how the answer was obtained. We suggest that you keep your working notes so that you can review for tests.
