 4.30.09 Final Course Grades: The final course grades are up on the PHY 2048 E-Learning WEBsite. The Course Grade, HITT Points, HWxQ Points, and Total Points columns has been updated. If you see an error in your grades please send E-mail to phy2048@phys.ufl.edu. I will upload the grades to the registrar on Sunday May 3. Congratulations to all who did well!
 4.28.09 E-Learning Updated: I have updated the exam scores and the HWxQ grades on E-Learning. I have not yet updated the final course grades. Be patient!
 4.21.09 Supplemental Instruction Final Review: There will be a review for the Final Exam on Thursday April 23 from 5:00pm-7:00pm in NEB 202 (offered by the Teaching Center).

 4.18.09 New Estimated Course Grades: The estimated course grades (after 3 exams) are up on the PHY 2048 E-Learning WEBsite. The Course Grade, HITT Points, HWxQ Points, and Total Points columns has been updated. Your Exam Points assumes that your grade on the Final Exam is equal to the average of your Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3 grades. Also, your HITT Points are based on the HITT score through 4/10/09 and your HWxQ Points include the first 10 assignments. Your Total Points are the sum of your HITT Points, your HWxQ Points, and your Exam Points. If you see an error in your grades please send E-mail to phy2048@phys.ufl.edu. Remember this is only an estimate, if your performance level changes your grade will change accordingly!

 4.15.09 Teacher Evaluations: We will do teacher evaluations on Wednesday April 22 (in class). In addition to the evaluations you will be asked 4 HITT questions about the class. If you come to class and do the evaluations and answer the 4 questions you will get 4 HITT bonus points which will improve your HITT grade.
 4.15.09 Cumulative Make-Up Exam: If you missed one the exams during the semester for a valid reason you can take the cumulative make-up exam on Wednesday April 22. If you have not already received an E-mail with the time and location of the exam please send E-mail to phy2048@phys.ufl.edu.

 4.3.09 "Bug" in HW 13 Problem 16-6: There is a "bug" in problem 16-6. WileyPLUS does not have the correct answer within 2%. Hence, everyone will get full credit for this problem. This problem is, however, still a valid quiz problem.
 4.3.09 PHY 2048 Tutoring Change: The SI tutoring for PHY 2048 has changed their meeting times. The sessions will now be offered three times each week (M8, W8, R10 in 1100 NPB, see office hours).
 3.26.09 Homework 11 Problem 14-22 Hint: Problem 14-22 is asking only for the force due to the water. You should not include the additional force due to the atmospheric pressure.

 2.5.09 Exam 1 Grades: Exam 1 grades have been posted on the PHY2048 E-Learning WEBsite. The average was 15 and the median was 16. Congratulations to those who did well!
 2.4.09 "Bug" in HW 4 Problem 6-45: There was a “bug” in HW 4 problem 6-45(b) which affected only a few people whose Ferris wheel was moving very fast. Everyone will get full credit for this problem and the problem is still a valid quiz problem.

 1.25.09 Grades Posted on E-Learning: Your homework and quiz grades for the first two weeks have been posted on the PHY2048 E-Learning WEBsite. Please send E-mail to phy2048@phys.ufl.edu if you see an error.
 1.25.09 WileyPLUS Accuracy: Some of you are missing the WileyPLUS homework problems because you are not keeping enough accuracy. You must get the right answer to within 2% or WileyPLUS will mark it wrong!
 1.15.09 "Bug" in HW 3 Problem 5-11: There is a “bug” in HW 3 problem 5-11(b,c). WileyPLUS does not handle the sign of the angle correctly. Everyone will get full credit for this problem. This problem is, however, still a valid quiz problem.
 1.13.09 Teaching Center "Supplemental Instruction" for PHY 2048: A FREE version of Tutoring Zone is being offered to PHY2048 students. Emphasis will be on understanding the material. They will also do test reviews before each exam and the final and help with the homework problems. Sessions are offered three times each week (M8, T7, W8 in 1100 NPB, see office hours). The sessions are led by an undergrad physics major who recently took the course. Students who attend tend to score higher in the course.
 1.8.09 No "Bug" in HW 1 Problem 1-25: There is not a "bug" in problem 1-25(b). WileyPLUS does have the correct answer within 2%. I was dumb and treated the atom like a sphere (as in the book), but the WileyPLUS problem says to treat the atom like a cube. One has to read the problems carefully! Everyone will still get full credit for this problem, but you should go ahead and do the problem.

 1.1.09 Discussion sections start on Tuesday January 6, 2009.
 1.1.09 Lecture classes start on Wednesday January 7, 2009 (period 2 & 3) in 1001 NPB. The class schedule shows the lecture material covered, exam dates, and on-line homework problems.
 1.1.09 In class graded HITT questions (student response system) begin on Wednesday January 14, 2009, but you should get your remotes sooner for practice questions that will help you to become familiar with the system before the questions starting counting toward your grade. To get credit you must register on the system (see the instructions in the syllabus).
 1.1.09 The first on-line homework assignment is due by 11:00pm on Friday January 9, 2009. You must register on WileyPLUS using the access code that comes with your textbook (see the instructions in the syllabus).
