Textbook: The textbook is Fundamentals of Physics, Parts 3 & 4, 8/e, Halliday, Resnick & Walker with Wiley Plus (required).

  • If you have used the Wiley Plus homework system previously in PHY2048, then your access code will work again this semester. You can purchase the book (ISBN 9780470148853) at a local bookstore for approximately $60. If they are charging substantially more than that, we want to hear about it, and do not buy it from them.

  • If you have not used the Wiley Plus homeowork system previously for physics, then you need to purchase a book/access code combination. This is done online directly from Wiley at:
    http://he-cda.wiley.com/WileyCDA/Section/id-320351.html
The cost at checkout will again be nearly $60 (don't worry that the list price is displayed while navigating the order. The UF discount should apply at final checkout). Note that although they are listed separately both items must be purchased to get the discount (Wiley's requirement, not ours, in contrast to what is said on the site). The paper book will be snail mailed to you but (barring problems) you will get the WileyPLus access code immediately. This will let you access WileyPlus which includes the entire textbook on-line, the student solutions manual, and the online homework. Use these so you don't fall behind waiting for the paper book to arrive. Do not wait until right before the first assignment to purchase your book and access code because there are no extensions on the homework.
