Announcements

11-Dec-2013

Final grade points, and grades, have been posted to e-learning. It is possible to earn more than 100 points with H-ITT extra credit added, but the grade boundaries are set with the point scale listed here.

9-Dec-2013

Final exam scores have been uploaded to E-learning.

8-Dec-2013

Solutions to the final exam have been posted to E-learning under "resources". Please note that the exams will not be graded until Monday, and scores and grades posted later in the week. We calculate the grades as in solving physics problems, carrying sufficient significant digits. There is no rounding to the nearest whole integer, for example, as we keep the fractional part as well.

The 2013 Nobel prize in Physics was awarded to the theorists who developed a mechanism that allows the particles that comprise matter to have mass: Francois Englert and Peter Higgs. This prediction was finally confirmed after nearly 50 years of searching on July 4, 2012 by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider in Europe. UF is one of the largest university groups on CMS, and the plot shown by the Nobel Committee was made by CMS. More info on http://www.nobelprize.org.
