  • The Final exam happened, it has been scored and the scores have ben posted on E-learning.

At this point, I disappear.  At least until the final semester grades are done.  I have this policy of sorts whereby I am freely available before the finals but become unavailable, at least for a while, after the finals.

Some of you are understandably nervous about your grades and would want to contact me.  But please understand that there is nothing I can do right now for an individual that will not be unfair to someone else.  Therefore for this short duration between final exam and the grade submission, I choose to not see anyone,  nor respond to emails.   I will be availabe again around Wednesday.

Best wishes for a great career in future.

  • Al scores except the final have now been posted on E-learning.  These include the two during term exams (respectively out of 12 and 13), quiz (out of 15), clicker (out of 5) and homework (out of 15).  You can calculate your status in class by multiplying exam 1 by 20/12, exam 2 by 20/13 and adding the  quiz, clicker and homework scores.  That number would be out of 75.   Your final grade will be determined by adding the final score converted to a maxium score of 25.
8/3/10
  • I have posted the quiz grades (except section  8703.  The scores are out of 15, two lowest score quizzes were dropped) and the clicker scores  (out of 5, lowest 20% have been dropped)  on E-learniing.  Let me know if there are any deficiencies.  I will try to post the last section quiz and homework grades soon.

  • Some of you  weren't pleased that  a homework was due during the exam week and had overlooked the due date of yesterday, Tuesday.  You will probably be less pleased with the information that there are two sets of homeworks that were/are due this week.
  • Please consult wileyplus for all information about the homework.  I have extended the due date for Ch.33 .homework to Friday.  Thus there are two homework sets due on Friday, 7/16/10, one for Ch. 33 and the second for Ch. 34.
  • I will post the exam  scores on e-Learning on Friday.  They cannot be graded until tomorrow.  The solutions will be posted  hopefully later today.
7/12/10 As they say, sometimes in a cruch, things don't go your way and more problems arise.  I came back to find that I was unable to connect with my home computer.  In fact, the problem worsened precipitiously over the day.  So this morning I had to get to the office to send this message.  I
wasted a lot of time trying to figure some smart way to do it.

The exam has to be postponed for Wednesday July 14.  All other details remain the same.

I am very sorry for any inconvenience.

  • When is Exam II?

I was planning it on Monday July 12, as I got back from my trip.  I am still hoping to make it happen.  But the cautious in me started to wonder whether I had allowed for the unexpected during the time I was gone.

I am still hoping to be ready for Exam II on Monday.  But, as I write this note sitting in a Starbucks after a redeye special from the left coast,  let's not be surprised if the exam is postponed for Wednesday.  Thank God for the class room exams.  There cannot be a schedule conflict.

  • The exam scores have been posted on E-Learning and known problems have been fixed so you should be able to see your scores.
  • There are two clicker numbers 462900 and 483570 that're still not registered.  Please register them if they belong to you.
6/8/10
  • The exam scores have been posted on e-learning.  The class average was 8.26 and the standard deviation was 2.21.  A master copy of the exam has been posted.  It includes the different versions of all problems.  The first answer is the correct answer, except in the problem with hexahedral prism where we have accepted the second answer also.

  • A few homework assignements have been added into Wiley Plus, with unusual due dates.  Please check and follow the instructions on Wiley Plus..
6/3/10
  • An omission in the last listing.  The schedule shows a homework due on June 4.  There is no homework due on June 4.
5/31/10 I have been lax in posting the notices.  Here we correct with several:

  • The link to old exams has been fixed and is operational.  Let me know in case there are any problems.  The collection of old exams serves as a resource for exam style questions that are short and need quick response.  I am not aware of  any mistakes here but sometimes they do happen.  An error gets fixed during the exam by announcement but remains present in the version that is posted.  Be aware and let me know if you find anything like that.

  • The first midterm exam will be held on Monday June 7, during the class.  The exams are typically designed to last 75 minutes.  You are allowed to bring a formula sheet, a calculator and pencils and erasors as many as you want.  Please bring your UF ID.

No hats are allowed.  No communications device should be in sight.  No books and no notes.

  • Tea and Cookies will meet in 2165 at 5PM on Tuesdays.  The time is my old favorite but I seem to have suggested 4PM somewhere.  For a number of reasons we have to stay with 5PM.

  • The lectures have been posted.  If you come across any oversight or omissions, let me know.
