 4.26.11 Overall Course Grades: The overall course grades (after all exams) are up on the PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite. Your HITT Points are your true points for the semester and your Quiz Points include all the quizzes. Your WebAssign HW Points includes all 11 assignments. Your Total Points are the sum of your HITT Points, your Quiz Points, your HW Points, and your Exam Points and have been updated. The grades are calculated according to the grade formula. If you see a mistake please send E-mail to phy2053@phys.ufl.edu. I will send the grades to the registrar on Saturday morning (April 30)!
 4.25.11 Final Exam Grades: The grades for Exam 3 have been posted on the PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite. The average was 11.9 with lots of good scores. The final course grades will be available soon.
 4.25.11 Additional Quiz Points: The table below shows the average quiz score for each of the PHY2053 TA's. It also shows the additional points per quiz that will be added to the students of each TA to make the average quiz grades equal for all the TA's. Your total additional quiz points, Qadd, is equal to the additional points per quiz times the number of quizzes you took and is shown on the PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite.

 4.8.11 Comprehensive Review: The PHY2053 Comprehensive Review will be conducted by Professor Qiu on Sunday April 17 2:00pm-4:00pm in 1002 NPB.
 4.2.11 Estimated Course Grades: The new estimated course grades (after 2 exams) are up on the PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite. Your Exam Points (max = 60) assumes that you get the same grade on the final exam that you averaged on Exam 1 and Exam 2. Also, your HITT Points (max = 5 points) are based on the HITT scores through 3/25/11 and your Quiz Points (max = 20 points) include the first 8 quizzes. Your WebAssign HW Points (max = 15 points) includes the first 9 assignments. Your raw HITT, quiz, and homework scores are also shown. Your Total Points (max = 100 points) are the sum of your HITT Points, your Quiz Points, your HW Points, and your Exam Points. The grades are calculated according to the grade formula. If you see a mistake please send E-mail to phy2053@phys.ufl.edu. Remember this is only an estimate, if your performance level changes your grade will change accordingly!
 4.2.11 Exam 2 Problem 7: Only 9% of the class got problem 7 correct! Hence, we have decided to mark problem 7 correct for everyone. The updated Exam 2 scores have been posted on the PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite The average is now 13.3.
 4.2.11 Breakdown of Final Exam Problems: The PHY2053 Final Exam will have 3 problems from Exam 1 (changed slightly but same concept) and 3 problems from Exam 2 (changed slightly but same concept). It will have 6 problems from the new material (Chapter 13.1-14.6) and it will have 8 cumulative problems (Chapter 1.1-9.6) for a total of 20 problems as follows:

 4.1.11 Exam 2 Grades: The grades for Exam 2 have been posted on the PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite. The average was 12.4 with lots of good scores. The new estimated course grades will be available in a few days.

 3.31.11 Cumulative Make-Up Exam: The PHY 2053 Make-Up Exam is 5:10pm-7:00pm on Wednesday April 20 in Room 1220 NPB. It is for anyone who had to miss an exam during the semester. You are allowed two crib sheets for the cumulative make-up exam. If you plan to take the make-up exam please send E-mail to phy2053@phys.ufl.edu.
 3.31.11 Teacher Evaluations: We will do teacher evaluations on Tuesday April 19 (in class). In addition to the evaluations you will be asked 4 HITT questions about the course. If you come to class and do the evaluations and answer the 4 questions you will get 8 HITT bonus points which will improve your HITT grade.
 3.31.11 "Bug" in HW7 Problem 5: There was a "bug" in WebAssign Problem 5 on HW7. Everyone will get full credit for this problem. You will not see this on WebAssign, but you will see it when the grades are posted to the e-Learning Website.

 3.4.11 H-ITT Scores: On Friday March 4 every PHY 2053 student was sent a gatorlink E-mail with their H-ITT scores through March 1 (maximum of 44 points possible). If you did not recieve your correct H-ITT scores please send E-mail to phy2053@phys.ufl.edu. Note that if your gatorlink E-mail inbox is full then you will not receive the E-mail. This is the last E-mailing of the H-ITT scores. Your raw H-ITT scores will be updated on e-Learning after Exam 2.

 2.25.11 Sakai e-Learning Upload Problems: The Sakai e-Learning site is not functioning properly. I have not been able to upload the grades for Exam 1. The average was 13.3 with lots of very good grades. Please be patient. I will upload the grades as soon as possible.

 2.19.11 "Bug" in HW5 Problem 7: There was a "bug" in WebAssign Problem 7 on HW5. Everyone will get full credit for this problem. You will not see this on WebAssign, but you will see it when the grades are posted to the e-Learning Website.

 2.1.11 SPS Sample Tests: The Society of Physics Students (SPS) has prepared sample tests (with solutions) for PHY2053. They are available for purchase at Target Copy.

 1.25.11 H-ITT Scores: On Tuesday January 25 every PHY 2053 student was sent a gatorlink E-mail with their H-ITT scores for January 18 and January 20 (maximum of 6 points possible). If you did not recieve your correct H-ITT scores please send E-mail to phy2053@phys.ufl.edu. Note that if your gatorlink E-mail inbox is full then you will not receive the E-mail. The next E-mailing of the H-ITT scores will be on Tuesday February 15.
 1.15.11 Grading WebAssign HW1: Beacuse many of you had problems getting started on WebAssign and learning to use the system, HW1 will only count if it improves your overall homework grade. Your overall homework grade will be calculated twice, once includeing HW1 and once excluding HW1. You will receive the higher of the two grades. This will only be done for HW1!
 1.12.11 Students with Disabilities: Students requesting classroom accommodation for disabilities must first register with the Dean of Students Office. The Dean of Students Office will provide documentation to the student who must then provide this documentation to the instructor when requesting accommodation. Then you must print out the PHY2053 Accommodated Test Request (ATR) Form for Spring 2011 (click here for the form). This form must be filled out by the student and returned to the Disability Reseource Center (DCR) at least one week before the first exam. The Accommodated Testing Service (ATS) at DCR will then administer all the exams.
 1.10.11 WebAssign Passwords for UF-ID's with Leading Zeeros: If your UF-ID has leading zeros you have to omit them in your WebAssign password. For example, UF-ID = 0XXXXXXX WebAssign Password = XXXXXXX and UF-ID = 00XXXXXX WebAssign Password = XXXXXX. Sorry my "goof-up"!
 1.7.11 PHY 2053 e-Learning Website: The e-Learning WEBsite is now up and running.
 1.6.11 The first on-line homework assignment is due by 11:00pm on Friday January 14, 2011. You must login to WebAssign using the username = Your Gatorlink UserName, institution code = ufl, and initial password = Your UF-ID (8 digit number). To log into WebAssign you will also need the access code that comes with your textbook (see the instructions in the syllabus).
 1.6.11 Quizzes begin in the discussion sections on Wednesday and Thursday January 19-20, 2011.
