Additional Quiz Points (Qadd): The table below shows the average quiz score for
each of the PHY2053 TA's. It also shows the additional points per quiz that will
be added to the students of each TA to make the average quiz grades equal for all the TA's.
Your total additional quiz points, Qadd, is equal to the additional points per quiz times
the number of quizzes you took from that TA and is shown on the
PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite. The estimated corse grades have been updated to
include Qadd.

Cumulative Make-Up Exam: The PHY 2053 Make-Up Exam is 5:10pm-7:00pm on Wednesday April 25 in Room 1220 NPB.
It is for anyone who had to miss an exam during the semester. The breakdown of the questions on the cumulative make-up exam
is similar to the final exam and you are allowed two crib sheets.

and tell me which exam the make-up should replace.

Last Day of Class: In class on Tuesday April 24 we will discuss the organization of the course and I will ask you
4 HITT questions about the course. If you come to class and answer the 4 questions you will
get 8 extra HITT points which should increase your overall HITT bonus points for the course.

Breakdown of Final Exam Problems: The PHY2053 Final Exam will have 4 problems
from your Exam 1 (changed slightly but same concept) and 4 problems from your Exam 2
(changed slightly but same concept). The answers to these problems may not be the exact same formula,
but if you understand how to do your Exam 1 and Exam 2 problems you will be able to do these problems.
The final exam will also have 4 problems from the new material
(Chapter 11.1-12.8) and it will have 8 new cumulative problems (Chapter 1.1-10.8)
for a total of 20 problems as follows:

Estimated Course Grades: The new estimated course grades (after two exams) are up on the
PHY 2053 e-Learning WEBsite.
Your Exam Points (max = 60) assumes that you get the same grade on the Final Exam that you averaged on Exam 1 plus Exam 2.
Your Quiz Points (max = 20 points) includes the first 8 quizzes. The Quiz Points have not yet been adjusted to make the average of each TA the same.
Your WebAssign HW Points (max = 20 points) includes the first 9 assignments.
Your HITT Bonus points (max = 5 points) are based on the HITT scores through 3/29/12.
Your Total Points (max = 100 points) are the sum of your Quiz Points, your HW Points, your Exam Points,
and your HITT Bonus points. If you have greater than 100 points, you were given the maximum of 100 points.
The grades are calculated according to the grade formula.
I have included your rank in the class (out of 422 students). Rank 1 corresponds to the highest grade in the class
and rank 422 is the lowest grade. Your raw HITT, quiz, and homework scores are also shown.

Normalization of the Quiz Scores: At the end of the semester we will compute the overall average quiz score for each of the PHY2053 TA's.
We will make no change to the quiz grades for those students in the classes of the TA with the highest average. We will add "bonus" quiz points to all
the other students in such a way as to make all the averages the same as the TA with the highest average. However, if doing so gives you
more than 20 points for your overall quiz grade, then you will only get the full 20 points.

"Bug" in HW2 Problem 9: There is a "bug" in HW2 Problem 9 (problem 3-79 in the book).
For some students the initial conditions were such that the answer was negative, which is unphysical and confusing.
Hence, everyone will get full credit for this problem. Note: you will not see the full credit on WebAssign. You will
see it when I upload your HW scores to e-Learning (after Exam1).

"Bug" in HW3 Problem 3: There is a "bug" in HW3 Problem 3 (problem 4-30 in the book).
WebAssign did not calculate this problem correctly for everyone. The initial velocity is not necessarily zero,
but it can be calculated from the information given in the problem.
The correct solution can be found here.
Everyone will get full credit for this problem. Note: you will not see the full credit on WebAssign. You will
see it when I upload your HW scores to e-Learning (after Exam1).

"Bug" in Problem 2-35: For those students who tried Problem 2-35 in the textbook
and were confused by the incorrect answer in the back of the book, the correct
solution can be found here (courtesy of Professor Rinzler).
Most of the answers in the back of the textbook are correct (this is the
first wrong one we have found). Note that this problem was not one of the assigned on-line homework problems.

Students with Disabilities: Students requesting classroom accommodation for disabilities must
first register with the Dean of Students Office. The Dean of Students Office will provide documentation
to the student who must then provide this documentation to the instructor (Field or Rinzler) when requesting accommodation.
Then you must print out the PHY2053 Accommodated Test Request (ATR) Form for Spring 2012
(click here for the form).
This form must be filled out by the student and returned to the Disability Reseource Center (DCR) at least
one week before the first exam. The Accommodated Testing Service (ATS) at DCR
will then administer all the exams.
