The Dean of Students Office will provide documentation to the student who must then provide this documentation to the instructor (Kumar or Qiu) when requesting accommodation. Then you must print out the PHY2054 Accommodated Test Request (ATR) Form for Fall 2013 (click here for the form). This form must be filled out by the student and returned to the Disability Reseource Center (DCR) at least one week before the first exam. The Accommodated Testing Service (ATS) at DCR will then administer all the exams.
Sep. 4
Just for this week, because of various issues with WebAssign, the due date (and time) has been moved to Thursday September 5, 2013, 11PM.
Aug. 31 The webassign grace period (where you are allowed to use it without a valid access code) will expire on midnight (betwen Tuesday and Wednesday).  Your free access will cease to be operational.  It seems that little over 230 students are fully registered (among more than 400 enrolled in class).  If you have a valid access code but it was used to get to Fall 12 class, please get that fixed before Tuesday.

In any case if you are entering webassign for the first time,  use as the username and password -- lastname.firstname.initial and make all the changes you desire.

Apropos HW-1 due on Monday by 11PM, I see only 147 submissions. I would urge all of you not to wait for your submission until the last moment.
Aug. 28
The webassign is now fully operational.  If you logged in earlier and did not see any assignemts or somehow ended up for Fall 12 course page, call webassign and ask them to link your account to Fall 2013 course.
Aug. 22
The first homework is due on Monday 9/2 and many of you have suddenly discovered that you can not access the webassign. You should login using username: lastname.firstname.initial and the same as password.  Once you are in you can change it all.

The discussion sections will start next week.  The quizzzes will be held Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting with the week of Sep. 1.

The clicker questions will be used next week for practice.  They will start to count on Sep. 3.
Aug. 22
PHY2054 and PHY2054L:  Physics 2 (PHY2054) and Physics 2 Lab (PHY2054L) are separate and independent courses.  For information about Physics 2 Lab, click here.
Aug. 22 H-ITT bonus questions begin in-class on Tuesday September 3, 2013, but you should get your remotes sooner for practice questions that will help you to become familiar with the system before the questions start counting for bonus points. Remember, you must register your H-ITT remote here.
Aug. 22 Students with Disabilities: Students requesting classroom accommodation for disabilities must first register with the Dean of Students Office. That office will provide you with documentation that you will provide to the instructor at the beginning of the semester. Please print and fill out the Accommodated Test Request (ATR) Form, and return it to the Disability Resource Center (DCR) at least one week before the first exam. The Accommodated Testing Service (ATS) at DCR will administer all exams.
Aug. 20 PHY2054 Tea and Cookies Session: Starting Tuesday, August 27 Prof. Kumar or Prof. Qiu (or any of the other future Professors)  will host a "tea and cookie" session every Tuesday at 5:00pm in 2175 NPB. Join them for tea, cookies, and help with the physics (or free advice on any) problems.
Aug. 20 Lectures start Thursday August 22 (period 2 & 3) in Physics 1001. The class schedule shows the lecture schedule, exam dates, and on-line homework due dates.
Discussion sections start Monday August 26.
Quizzes begin in the discussion sections the week of Monday August 26, 2013.  Quizzes will usually be on a Tuesday or Wednesday depending on your section
