09 August - Final Grades have
been submitted. Unfortunately, WebAssign has no provision for
posting letter grades. I am at least as irritated by this as you
are! You can figure out
your grade from the grade calculation info that is posted HERE , along with letter-grade ranges. Y'all were a great class...Enjoy your break! My best wishes for Fall (which is creeping up like a herd of elephants)!
06 August - Final Exam Scores
are now posted on WebAssign. Class Average was 8.99 --- pretty
good for a fairly difficult exam that you had to finish in 80 minutes. Final grade posting will be announced here when ready. Click HERE for a summary of how your final score is calculated.
02 August - The final exam is in-class Thursday, August 5th. Question breakdown: chapter 21- 2; 22- 2; 23- 3; 24- 5; 25- 3. Five of the 15 questions are conceptual (no calculations). If the previous class clears out in time, we will try to start the exam at 12:25. Exam ends at 1:50 .
29 July - Click HERE for a final exam review outline.
26 July - The make-up exam for those with approved exam absences is Thursday 29 July, 5 - 7 PM in 1200 NPB.
In response to requests, a 'grade guesstimator' is available HERE. Please use with caution— note the caveats!
15 July - A second sample final exam is available on the 'Practice Exams' page as Exam 3B. If you were allowed only 5 tries on this week's WebAssign, this has now been corrected to the usual 10.
12 July - Attention, those approved to take the Make-Up Exam: This exam will be scheduled the week of July
26: two weeks hence. Please email me, ASAP, a list of all 2-hour
time blocks you have available for T-W-R July 27-28-29.
08 July - Exam 2 scores are now posted on your WebAssign page. Class average was 11.51 — very good for a fairly tough exam! Click Here after 8 PM for Exam 2 solutions
06 July - For another short practice exam, click here. Note: Ignore questions 10-13, from Ch. 22.
05 July - Practice
Exam errors! The correct answers to questions 3, 4 and 5 on
Practice Exam 2 are 2.47 A (2.5 A, rounded), 31.6 µC (32 µC,
rounded), and 1.6 A. Apparently the wrong diagram was inserted
when the exam was generated. Correct answer to #7 is (2), not (1).
02 July - Exam 2 is Tuesday 06 July, 7 PM. Coverage: S&V chapters 18 (5 questions); 19 (6); 20 (6); 21 [through section 7 only] (3). Click Here for a Review.
NOTE REVISED Exam Locations: Sections 8730, 8733 [WF 5 & 6]: NPB 1002
All others: NPB 1001
10 June - Your h-itt (clicker) scores were emailed earlier today. If you didn't receive an emailed score, register your remote NOW. Those not registered by Wednesday 16 June will be penalized 25%.
06-07 June - Here's the 'workaround' for the Exam 1 posting glitch: On your WebAssign page, click on <Past assignments>. For an explanation of this (if interested!) , CLICK HERE.
05 June - several of you report that your Exam 1 scores are not showing up on your WebAssign pages. My apologies! The scores look OK on my pages;
evidently there's a glitch that I haven't located: Help from
Webassign is on the way, we hope; check here for update(s).
04 June - h-itt ('clicker') scores through this week were emailed at noon. There are still five (5) unregistered h-itt remotes that have incurred the 5% penalty (see the 29 May announcement below). This penalty becomes 10% if these remotes are not registered by 10 June.
03 June - Exam 1 Scores are
now posted on your WebAssign page (last
column). Class Average was 13.8 - very
good!! Exam 1 Solutions are available HERE.
31 May - Exam 1 [Tuesday, 7 PM] Locations: Section 8729 [WF 3, Mr. Goldberg] - CSE E119 All Others - NRN 137 Exam 1 coverage: 5 questions, each, from Chapters 15 and 17;
10 from Chapter 16. 6 questions are
'conceptual'. What to bring: UF ID, note sheet (1 only), calculator w/ fresh batteries, scratch paper, writing implement(s).
29 May - h-itt ('clicker') scores
were emailed to you today. If you didn't get one, please check
your h-itt registration: we have approximately 20 sets of
'anonymous' scores from un-registered clickers! Regretfully, a 5%
penalty will be imposed on any clickers unregistered after Thursday 03
June.
27 May - A 'hit the high spots' review for Exam 1 is available here.
25 May - Please register your h-itt remote (aka 'clicker') if you haven't done so. Our roster shows approximately 20 'anonymous' remote reponses. You can register on line: click on 'H-ITT' in the menu at left & follow the registration instructions.
----> Exam 1 is next Tuesday night! <----
21 May - Chapter 15 Solutions are available online in .pdf format. Click on "Homework Solutions" in the menu at left. h-itt ['clicker'] scores were emailed yesterday evening. Let me know if you didn't receive yours.
20 May - The deadline for submission of WebAssignment 2 has been extended through Tuesday, 25 May. Office Hours for all instructors are now posted.
11 May -
WebAssign rolls have been successfully uploaded. You should now
be able to access your assignment. If you have difficulty, please
read the instructions and follow them carefully. Email me if
problems [other than the assigned ones] continue.
10 May - See the below announcements —they still apply, except for: Homework assignments - these were updated on 07 May. Reload them, there were revisions. Instructor
assignments are tentative until Mr. Zhang's return on 17 May.
01 May - Greetings to those who are making an early start.
Welcome, all, to the course.
Some items on this website are incomplete: Homework assignments are posted through week 4. Later ones will appear soon. WebAssign rolls , TA office hours and section assignments will
be posted here as soon as available — probably early in the first week of classes.
>> Please read over the Syllabus and other items in the menu at left. Make sure that you acquaint yourself with what's expected of you in this course.
Registering
for this class:
If you have difficulties in trying to
register for this course, I'm quite sympathetic [been there, done that!]. However, I'm not
involved in registration matters, so there's absolutely
nothing I can do to bypass or expedite any part of the process. Sorry!
