WebAssign Homework

About WebAssign:
This on-line, interactive homework activity has been used in many of the UF Physics Department's introductory courses for several years.

Most students  have found it helpful.  You who are reading this should find it so, provided that you get the assignments done on time!
Remember, you have to push a pencil to learn physics!
WebAssign helps and (we hope!) encourages you do this.

I don't know many people who enjoy doing homework.
HOWEVER:  it's probably your single-most productive study activity in a course like physics.......but only IF you work at it.   These WebAssignments encourage you to work out selected problems interactively online and they can boost your total score by as much as 15 points.

Each WebAssign homework question is based on the same physical situation as its counterpart, selected from the end-of-chapter questions/problems.  However, the parameters vary:  each of you gets a "personalized"  version with a  different set of numbers.

So, if you like working together, feel free to discuss the problems and how to solve them with each other, but each of you must then work out your own assignment and enter your own answers [see above].
It's critically important for you to figure out  how an answer was obtained, because that's the key to doing well on the exams and quizzes where most of your  points are earned.

Each WebAssignment is due on Sunday at 11:50 PM as indicated below, except for the first and the one after Summer Break—these are highlighted

You get instant feedback as to whether the answer is correct or not and you have up to 10 attempts at getting the correct answer.
Note: the numerical answers must be within 3% of the correct answer for WebAssign to accept them, so be careful in rounding-off.

Important reminder
WebAssignments  will be completed by 11:50 PM on the due date.
>>>No exceptions, no make-ups, no extensions!! [Don't even ask]
<<<
The WebAssign server may have occasional problems, e.g., slowing down due to a glut of last-minute users.  It's smart to begin work early and turn in answers steadily, rather than try to do it all on the last day — or worse, on the last evening!!

Special Notice - WebAssign access code:
If you didn't get WebAssign for this term with your text, you can buy an access code at the bookstore or directly at  the WebAssign URL below,
*after* you log in   and establish your user ID  —  see Login Instructions below.

http://www.webassign.net

**************************

Login Instructions:

Login:  Do not use your GatorLink name!   Your login name is your 8-digit UFID (no dash), including leading zeros, e.g. 00564567.  Your password is also the UFID, but you should change it after your first login.

Added note for those with UF ID's beginning with a zero:  If your login is unsuccessful after  2 or 3  tries, disregard the above and omit the initial zero.  I haven't been able to learn the source of this glitch but omission is the apparent workaround.  Let me know if this doesn't work!

Please take note:

  • If you had a previous WebAssign account under your Gatorlink name, it will not work in this course.

  • If you had a previous WebAssign account with username = UFID, it should be valid for this course, with your same password as previously.
  • You still need  a valid WebAssign license for this course.  Usually it's sold with the text but if you didn't buy it, are borrowing a text, etc., see the Special Notice just above re:  how to get an access code.

Please change your password after you log in for the first time.
The institution is ufl .
