I have taken a close look at the distribution of test scores, homework and how the semester is going in general, and I have decided to modify the scale for the final grades. The new grade scale is
210 pts and above: at least an A
170 pts and above: at least a B
130 pts and above: at least a C

OUTLINE (Tentative):
1/07: First day of classes. First homework assignment is Due.
1/07 – 2/08: relativity; quantization of charge; light and energy.
2/08: Test 1
2/08 – 3/05: Quantization of charge, light and energy, the nuclear atom, wavelike properties of particles.
3/07: Test 2
3/08 - 3/16 Spring Break
3/17 - 4/07 The Schrödinger equation, quantum mechanics, atomic physics, statistical physics.
4/11: Test 3
4/14 – 4/23: selected applications.
4/23: Last class meeting.
4/25: Informal review at the usual lecture time and place.
5/02: Final exam; group 2A on Friday, May 2, from 7:30am
to 9:30am in the usual lecture room.
