DESCRIPTION
This course is the first part of two-semester sequence in undergraduate level classical mechanics. Topics include matrices, vector calculus, Newtonian mechanics, frames of reference, conservation laws, harmonic oscillator, and calculus of variations.

SAKAI
Your grade will be posted on SAKAI course. If you have not used Sakai, please visit Sakai Help and learn how to use it. I will adopt Sakai gradually since it is a relatively new system. Some surveys might be conducted through Sakai during the semester.

GRADING POLICY
Homework Eight sets of HW's will be assigned in this course. Each homework will be distributed as a PDF file through e-mail, usually on Friday. The due date of homework will be specified on the homework sheet (typically a week after). Make your solutions neat, concise, and intelligible.
Homeworks submitted late will not be graded.

Exams There will be four in-class exams and a two-hour long final exam. One of the four in-class exams will not be incl;uded in your grade.

Policy on missed Exam or Quiz:
A make-up will be arranged separately.
