This experiment uses a laser beam bounced off of a mirror that is attached to a wire. When weights are hung from the wire it stretches and this change in length obeys Hooke's Law. The stretch of the wire is amplified by the laser/mirror system so that all students can see the laser spot move onthe wall. This experiment is more qualitative than quantitative due to the equipment we use to set it up. |
