This experiment uses a hydraulic jack to crush a piece of wood placed inside its jaws. This demonstration of Pascal's principle is based on two cylinders of different diameters (D1 = 0.5" and D2 = 1.25") that leads to a mechanical advantage of 25/4. The pump's handle provides an additional mechanical advantage of 16:1 for an overall IMA of 100:1. |
