Conduction Rod

This experiment consists of a wood rod with metal sleeves over the ends. A piece of paper is slipped over the metal/wood interface and then heated in a flame. The metal conducts the heat away from the paper but the wood does not conduct the heat and the paper burns. This difference in heat conduction is dramatically shown by the burnt paper to unburned paper overthe metal/wood interface.
