This is a digital strobe light that can be used for timing purposes. One of the experiments I like to do is juggle three balls under stobe light and slowly decrease the number of flashes until I lose the juggling pattern. I discuss how each flash provides position and velocity information that I must interpolate to catch the balls. As flashes decrease so does the amount of data and the predictions get worse until I loose it.
