Johannes Eichholz, Tom Scott Memorial Award Recipient

December 2015

The Tom Scott Memorial Award is made annually to a senior graduate student in experimental physics who has shown distinction in research. The award honors the memory of Professor Tom Scott who made significant contributions to the Department both as a Chair and as a noted researcher. This year's recipient is graduate student Johannes Eichholz.

Johannes Eichholz, pictured with Graduate Coordinator Guido Mueller, is an outstanding experimental student. Johannes is part of the UF LIGO group working in LIGO and also participating from time to time in LISA. Johannes' advisor, Guido Mueller, is most impressed by his versatility. Johannes worked on cryogenics, data acquisition systems, digital controls, certainly lasers and optics, and mechanical suspension systems while helping other students with their projects. Johannes graduated Fall 2015 and will be employed at Cal-Tech as a post-doc.
