A. Announcement of Meetings

(1) Current Chair calls elected members of committee for a meeting on December 20, at 12 PM. Agenda: Organization.

(2) Dean Paul D'Anieri calls full committee to a meeting in Turlington Hall 2014 for 10:00 AM on January 16. Agenda: Dean to charge committee

(3) The Chair of the committee called for a meeting for Tuesday, January 22 at 10:30 AM (in Rm 2260 of the New Physics Building)to review the format for polling faculty and staff, and to review the updated template for the advertisement.

(4) The Chair of the search committee called for a meeting of the committee for February 7 at 2 PM in Rm 2260 in the New Physics Building. Agenda: Review of the results of the polls of the faculty and of the Department.

(5) The Chair of the committee called for a meeting for Thursday, February 21 (in Rm 2260 of the New Physics Building) at 2:15 PM to review the results of the polls of the faculty and staff in the department.

(6) The Chair of the committee called for a meeting for Thursday, March 14 at 1:00 PM (in Rm 2260 of the New Physics Building) to interview faculty members selected from the polls of the faculty and staff.

(7) The Chair of the committee called for a meeting for Friday, March 29 at 9:30 AM (in Rm 2260 of the New Physics Building). Agenda: Make final selection of short list to present to faculty.

(8) The Chair of the committee called for a meeting for Thursday, April 11, in 2014 Turlington Hall to meet with the Dean.

B. Minutes of Above Meetings

(1) Present: P. Hirschfeld, G. Mitselmakher, C. Stanton, N. Sullivan, D. Tanner. Absent: P. Ramond The members elected N. Sullivan as Chair and appointed H.P. Cheng and T. Saab to the committee to add broader representation of the department.

(2) Date: January 16, 10:00 Am. Turlington Hall, Rm 2014 The Search Committee for the new Physics Chair was charged by Dean Paul D'Anieri to conduct an internal search for a new Chair of the Physics Department who would take office in the Fall semester of 2013. The Dean reviewed the parameters of the search with the committee and the committee members discussed the general perspective from the physics department.
Present: P. D' Anieri, A. Sarajedini, M. Perfitt, H. P. Cheng, P. Hirschfeld, G. Mirtselmakher, P. Ramond, C. Stanton, N. Sullivan, D. Tanner.

(3) Date: January 22, 2013, 10:30 A.M. Room 2260 NPB. The Physics Chair Search Committee met to discuss polling the faculty and staff for their preferences on possible department chair candidates and to look at and make changes to a proposed advertisement for the department chair position.
Present: H. P. Cheng, P. Hirschfeld, G. Mitselmakher, P. Ramond, T. Saab, C. Stanton, D. Tanner.

(4) Date: February 7 in NPB Rm 2260. Present: M. Perfitt, H. P. Cheng, P. Hirschfeld, G. Mitselmakher, P. Ramond, T. Saab, C. Stanton, N. Sullivan, D. Tanner. The search committee reviewed the results of the polls of the faculty and staff and prepared a short list of preferred candidates. Committee members were assigned to ask each person on that list about their willingness to serve as Chair.

(5) Date: February 21 at in NPB Rm 2260. Present: M. Perfitt, H. P. Cheng, P. Hirschfeld, G. Mitselmakher, P. Ramond, T. Saab, C. Stanton, N. Sullivan. The search committee reviewed the results of the faculty and staff polls, and determined a list of six preferred faculty members to be (i) interviewed by the committee m and (ii) included in a second preference poll.

(6) Date: March 14, 1 to 3 PM in Rm 2260. Present: M. Perfitt, H. P. Cheng, P. Hirschfeld, G. Mitselmakher, P. Ramond, T. Saab, C. Stanton, N. Sullivan. The committee interviewed the candidates on the short list for the position of Chair.

(7) Date: March 29. NPB 2260. 9:30-10:30 AM. Present: M. Perfit, H.P. Cheng, P. Hirshfeld, G. Mitselmakher, P. Ramond, T. Saab, C. Stanton. N. Sullivan, D. Tanner. The committee reviewed all candidates and developed a short list of three to present to the faculty and to the Dean.

(8) Date: April 11. Turlington Hall Rm 2014, 11:00 -- 11:50 AM Present: Dean D'Anieri, Assoc. Dean A. Sarajedini, M. Perfit, H.P. Cheng, P. Hirshfeld, G. Mitselmakher, P. Ramond, T. Saab, C. Stanton. N. Sullivan, D. Tanner. The physics committee present and reviewed the short list of candidates with the Dean.
