Title:  "Issues in gravitational lensing from a spacetime perspective"

ABSTRACT

In recent years the gravitational lens phenomenon generated
a great deal of interest from the observational point of view.
This motivated theoreticians in general relativity and mathematics to
formulate the gravitational lens phenomenon in a spacetime
setting without the restrictions of weak fields and small angles
usually present in the astrophysical setting.
A spacetime setting, which includes the treatment of image distortion as
well as location and magnification, will be discussed and illustrated.
Potential uses of the spacetime setting for lensing will be suggested.
