Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position in theoretical astrophysics in the Physics Department of the University of Florida.

Strong observational evidence has accumulated that non-radial effects are important in the pulsations of the classical variable stars, such as Cepheids and RR Lyrae, and the objective of the research is the numerical hydrodynamic modeling of nonradial pulsations of evolved stars. It will involve adapting an existing multi-D hydro-code (or developing a new one) that is tailored to the challenging peculiarities of this problem. The research will be carried out in close collaboration with Prof. Buchler.

The candidate should have experience with multi-dimensional numerical hydrodynamics.

The appointment is for a minimum of one year, normally renewable for a second year, with an annual salary of $41,000. The position is available at this time and is expected to be filled by December 1.

Applicants should send (email) curriculum vitae, bibliography and the addresses of 3 references as soon as possible.
