The symbol **5 causes the 5 to be raised
as a superscript. Superscripting is ended by a * as in **5*, by a blank,
or by a closing parenthesis as in **(5+7) which will put both the 5 and
the seven in the superscript. Subscripting is indicated by //5*. The special
symbol **-> causes the superscript to be backspaced, producing a vector
symbol. The special symbol **_ (**"underline") causes the superscript to
be backspaced over the character before it, producing a "bar" over it.
The text treated in this way can appear
anywhere in the que file. For example in the part of sample.que
before the first question there is a definition of some constants as.
Earth's radius: 6.38 x 10**6* m Earth's mass: 5.98 x 10**24* kg Newton's constant: 6.67 x 10**-11* N m**2*/kg**2These appear in the proof and the exam as
6 Earth's radius: 6.38 x 10 m 24 Earth's mass: 5.98 x 10 kg -11 2 2 Newton's constant: 6.67 x 10 N m /kg
