Instructions for First Lab Meeting (Fall 2008)

Welcome to the accelerated physics lab! Our first class meeting will
start at 6th period (12:50 pm) on Tuesday September 2, 2008. On that
day we will perform lab ME - Measurement Error & Uncertainty.

Please do the following prior to the first class meeting:

(1) Read the syllabus and the General Guidelines for Labs. Both are
posted at the class WEBCT/Vista site.

(2) Take a few minutes to make sure that you can find the laboratory
classroom -- Room DG-22 (in ground floor of Dental Building in Health
Sciences). Note that the lab is not in the Physics Building, and you
won't have time for a last minute search of the entire UF/Shands Health
Science Center if you are running late for class.

Also, locate the webpage for the lab ME on our WebCT/Vista site. Then ...

(3) Visit and complete the online tutorial on error & uncertainty. This
tutorial should take roughly 60-90 minutes to complete. Be sure to work
through the exercises in the tutorial - you don't need to bring your
answers to our class however.

(4) Complete the Prelab questions for lab ME. These questions are posted
on WebCT/Vista as a WORD-document. Bring your answers to class.

(5) Print out the lab writeup (ME - Measurement error and uncertainty)
that is posted on WebCT/Vista, read it, and bring it to class. You should
print out and read the writeup for every lab this semester, and always
bring that printed writeup with you to class.

Seems complicated? Sorry. The first day of class is always a little
hectic.

See you on Tuesday 9/2/08.
