Remote - REGISTRATION/INSTRUCTIONS

In order to participate in the quizzes in the main lectures (7% of the course grade), you will need a hand-held transmitter (remote). Many of you may already own these remotes as a result of having taken previous courses using the HiTT Student Response System (SRS). For those of you who do not own a remote, you can purchase one. However, John Mocko (demonstration lab) has kindly agreed to loan the class a set of remotes. Therefore, it is not essential that you purchase one. HOWEVER, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM AWAY FROM THE CLASS.

The in-class quizzes will contribute 7% to your final grade. A brief tutorial on the use of the student response system will be given in-class during the first or second week, and instructions in .pdf format can be downloaded here. The lowest 20% of your quiz scores will not count towards your final quiz grade, inluding absences and zeros. This will enable you to miss 1 out of every 5 quizzes and not be penalized. For this reason, there will be no make ups for the in-class quizzes.
