The final exam will take place in NPB 1002
between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1.
Please try to arrive in the exam room by 2:55 p.m. and bring writing materials.
You may also bring three formula sheets (up to 8½" × 11") and an
electronic calculator. No other electronic devices may be used.
- The exam will focus on material covered since the second mid-term:
quantum-mechanics in three dimensions and spin. Addition of two angular
momenta will not be tested.
- There will be two multiple-choice questions, similar in style to questions
1—3 of Homework 8, as well as longer problems similar in style to those
appearing on the mid-terms.
- As a guide to the type of question likely to appear on the final, see the
the past final exams posted on the
resources page.
Note, however, that questions 3(b) and 4 from Fall 2008 and question 4 from
Fall 2009 address material that will not be covered on the upcoming exam.
- The exam will include the same formula sheet as appeared on page 4 of the
Fall 2010 final, will specify the value of any required physical constant,
and will provide any required integral beyond the basic level.
