Travel from Gainesville Regional Airport to the University of Florida
Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) is located approximately 7 miles from the University of Florida. If you do not rent a car at the airport, your best bet for getting to the University is to take a taxicab (typical fare $20).
Driving from the Airport
- Follow signs for the airport exit.
- Turn right onto NE 39th Avenue (SR-222).
- Take 39th Avenue west for 4.0 miles to its intersection with NW 13th Street.
- Turn left onto NW 13th Street.
- Take NW 13th Street south for 2.5 miles to its intersection with W University Avenue. (University Ave is equivalent to NW 0th Ave, so it is fairly easy to count down the crossing streets between NW 39th Ave and W University Ave.)
- The University of Florida campus begins at the southwest corner of the intersection between W University Avenue and NW 13th Street.
- To reach the Physics Department, turn right onto W University Avenue.
- Continue on University Avenue through lights at Newell, Buckman, and Fletcher Drives until you reach the light at Gale Lemerand Drive.
- Turn left onto Gale Lemerand Drive, passing between large brick entrance signs.
