Gravitational Effects to Date:

Milligravity from NASA’s KC135 and

2g from Ames Centrifuge

The parabolic flight of the KC135 creates episodes of milligravity (10 - 100 mg) and 2g.

Hypogravity does not induce expression of the GUS reporter gene (controlled for by ground and 2g centrifuge tests), but the cumulative effects of ca. 2 hours of milligravity results in GUS expression.

GUS expression can also be quantitatively determined by biochemical assays.
