University of Florida H-ITT Remote Descriptions
Newer HITT radio frequency (RF) remotes like the TX-3100 and the TX-3000 remote types are the standard remotes used in class. If you happen to own an old HITT IR remote check with your instructor to see if your classroom also allows the use of older used infrared (IR) remotes along with RF remotes. To my knowledge the ONLY rooms where using both newer RF and older IR remotes is allowed is in the two PHYSICS auditoriums of NPB 1001 and NPB 1002.
I DO NOT KNOW IF CHEMISTRY ALLOWS OLDER IR REMOTES TO BE USED SO CHECK WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR IF YOU HAPPEN TO OWN AN OLDER IR REMOTE TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN USE IT!!! I strongly advise using an RF remote anyway because most students who may still have an IR remote usually end up switching over to an RF remote later anyway just for the convenience of it.
Once you know what type of remotes are allowed in your classroom then follow the appropriate link listed below.
AFTER THIS SEMESTER (SPRING 2008), PHYSICS CLASSES WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT THE OLD "IR" REMOTE TYPES!!!
KEEP YOUR RF REMOTE AT LEAST 8 INCHES AWAY FROM YOUR CELL PHONE. Cell phones can cause RF remotes to freeze-up and temporarily stopping functioning.
If this happens your remote will not light up any lights even though you have good batteries. To fix the problem just remove the batteries and press a
button or two, then replace the batteries and the remote will be fine.
