Overview

The purpose of WG2 is to advise the LIST on questions of interferometry for LISA. Therefore it should include experts in the relevant fields, both from inside and outside the ongoing mainstream design work.

WG2 reports to the LIST. It typically meets at special sessions organized around LIST meetings. If necessary, telecons and/or meetings independent of LIST meetings can also be held. It has proven practical to hold WG2 meetings together with WG1 meetings, not parallel but following each other.

The WG2 should not be confused with the IMS ITAT. The Integrated Technical Advisory Team for the Interferometry Measurement System advises system engineering and acts as a fast response task force. ITAT only looks at the baseline design and its first order options and is less concerned with new ideas or non-project based research. WG2, on the other hand, advises the LIST, coordinates university based R&D, takes its time to discuss new ideas, and is a filter for these ideas for the LIST.
