Apr. 30, 2007

Final exam mean was 11/20. Final exam grades are posted on WebAssign, and solutions are given here.

THE THRESHOLDS FOR LETTER GRADES WILL BE THOSE GIVEN IN SYLLABUS ("NO CURVE").

LETTER GRADES FOR COURSE ARE NOW POSTED ON WEBASSIGN, ALONG WITH ALL SCORES.

There will be no rounding of grades. If we were to round the grades when they fell within a certain tolerance, it would amount to moving the thresholds. While somewhat arbitrary, the thresholds are fair and were stated in the syllabus. Please do not write or call to ask for changes to this policy.

Review notes from Friday in-class posted here

Your current HITT points were emailed to you today. If you have not recieved the message, you may have:
- not registered your HITT properly
- entered invalid email address (I got a few bounced messages).
You still have about one week, until Apr 28, to sort out all issues with your HITT registration. If you received two messages, it means your clicker is registered for both 2nd and 3rd period---in this case, the system will use the period that has the most points.

Welcome to PHY2048!
This web page will open as you enter the course web site. It will contain all current announcements such as assignments of auditoriums for exams,  schedule changes, etc. Let's work together to have a mutually productive and enjoyable semester.

Prerequisites and preparation: Differential and integral calculus, with a good working knowledge of trigonometry and elementary algebra. This course relies heavily on this level of math (see text, Appendix E). Vectors are used extensively, with concepts to be developed in class as needed. If you are not comfortable at this level of mathematics, then you should consider taking the appropriate refresher course before taking this class. Here is a self-assessment which should help you judge your level of mathematics preparation.

Technical problems: If you are having particular technical problems with some aspect of this course, and you believe that email might be sufficient to resolve the technical problem then use one of these email links:
