These are suggestions you might consider for journal club presentations. Remember your first reaction when you look at any of these papers will very likely be "I don't understand anything". Don't panic. Try to track down some of the keywords in textbooks, talk to your research advisor or to me. With a little background you will be able to start reading. Try to read to the end without attempting to understand every word in the paper, just the essence of what is being done or described. This is the key to being able to approach your research literature.
Description from Prof. Meisel:
This link describes the "focus" reviews of the month on quantum phase transitions and related. It is a one page introductory blurb, and references 2-6 are in that edition. I have spent most of my time on references 4 (Sachdev) and 6 (Giamarchi, Ruegg, Tchernyshyov), but the other authors may have also done a nice job (but I did not read their pieces in detail). These pieces will help guide to the relevant PRL-like literature where appropriate.
