Linux/Alpha
I've been running Linux since 1995, when I put it on the Intel P90 I
had (still have it). I got involved in running Linux on Alpha
hardware in 1998, when the University of Florida High Energy Physics
group (with whom I currently work) purchased 16
AlphaPC 164LX machines from
Microway. Well, it seemed like
a great fit: a high-performance OS running on high-performance
hardware. 10 more 164LX machines were purchased in January 1999.
By the end of the summer of '98, I'd purchased my own
AlphaStation 200 4/233 from
Onsale. Since then, I've added an
AlphaStation 250 4/266 and an
AlphaPC 164SX based machine to my ever-expanding private network
of Alphas :). Weird hobby.
I've also taken an interest in getting
Linux to run on the DEC 3000 family machines, which use DEC's
proprietary Turbochannel bus.

Largely for my own convenience, here are some useful links related to
the DEC Alpha or running Linux on the DEC Alpha. Many of these links
