Course:This is a one semester course on Statistical Physics. We will skim chapters 1 and 2, which are a review of Thermodynamics (which you should have already had) and cover most of chapters 3-10. If we have additional time, some special topics from the remaining chapters will be discussed.

**Text book:**The “official” textbook, which is required, is "Introductory Statistical Mechanics (2nd Edition)" (Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1999) by R. Bowley and M. Sanchez, and is available from Oxford University Press.

**Grading:**Your total score for the course is determined by your quizzes (25%), and the three midterm exams (25% each). I will give you feedback after each mid-term exam that should help you determine how you are doing in the class.
