The Casimir force

The Casimir effect is one of the significant outcomes of the quantum field theory. Casimir's original calculation gave us an attractive force (See Wikipedia, Casimir effect, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casimir_effect). However, this force strongly depends on the shape of the boundaries. Aiming at a possible repulsive Casimir force, we are investigating the Casimir effect between an array of high aspect ratio trenches and a spherical surface.

The Quantum tunnelling

What's the behavior of the quantum tunnelling current between a sharp tip and bulk materials? We know it well. It's STM. But what would happen if the current tunnels to a nano-scale sample?

If everything goes well, I will tell you the answer after two or three years.
