DESCRIPTION
The course is the second of the PHY35134523 sequence. With the knowledge of thermodynamics, we will develope techniques with which various thermodynamic quatities can be calculated for classical and quantum mechanical systems.
GRADING POLICY
Homework
Five sets of HW will be assigned in this course. Each homework will be
distributed as a PDF file through email, usually on Friday. The due date of homework will be specified
on the homework sheet (usually a week after). Make your solutions neat, concise, and intelligible.
Homeworks submitted late will not be graded.
Inclass Quizzes There will be three inclass quizzes.
30 mins will be given for each quiz. Quiz should be consdiered as a small exam.
Exams There will be three longer than 2 hour exams. The exam time will be announced later.
Paper Students will choose one subject out of the suggested topics and write a comprehensive report.

Each group, if work together, should submit one report but both authors should make comparable contributions. Each report should follow the format and style guide of Physical Review Letters (http://prl.aps.org/info/infoL.html) and should be submitted in PDF. If you are not familiar with LaTeX, you can use the Word template provided by the instructor with PRL reference style.
