International Summer Research Program in Gravitational-Wave Physics:
Research Experiences for Undergraduates around the world

INFN-Napoli and Università degli Studi "Federico II"
Contact: Dr Fabio Garufi
The Napoli group, lead by Prof. Leopoldo Milano, has been working in the field of Gravitational Wave (GW) detection for more than 20 years. It contributed to the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the Virgo 3km interferometric antenna, and is now involved in upgrades and R&D for future ground based GW detectors. The group has competences in optical and mechanical devices, interferometer control, environmental monitoring, electrostatic actuators, analog and digital electronics and data analysis. It is also active in R&D for optical techniques for the inertial sensor of the LISA space GW antenna. There is also a strong connection with theorists working on GW sources. The group has five staff members and several postdocs, graduated and undergraduates students.
