From Qubits to Computation

Exploring the physical world through the lens of quantum bits, I will describe efforts in using quantum systems and devices to provide new modalities of measurement and calibration; new means of computation; and new vistas for information transfer in the information technology age. My focus will be on two themes: how quantum information science concepts can advance our understanding of fundamental physics, and how physics and engineering approaches to building quantum devices may one day enable usable, large scale quantum computers.
