Sun Jun 6 TBA Picnic at the Lake Wauburg North Park for participants in the Chemistry and Physics REUs. The picnic will be based in the Cypress Lodge, but you will have access to most park facilities (canoes, kayaks, volleyball, etc). Bring your Gator-1 card.

Drivers: Head south on 13th Street (Highway 441) for about 8 miles. The entrance to the North Park is in the left-hand side of the road. Note: If you reach the entrance to the South Park, you have gone too far and should turn around.

WEEK 3
Fri Jun 11 1:30 pm Seminar/lab tours: Prof. Stephen Hagen, UF Physics, and Dr. Adrian Roitberg, UF Chemistry, will describe their research into the dynamics of protein folding. (Note early start time! Meet in 2165 NPB.)

WEEK 4
Fri Jun 18 3 pm Seminar: Getting into Graduate School, Prof. Alan Dorsey, UF Physics (2165 NPB). This is the PowerPoint presentation from Prof. Dorsey's seminar.

1 pm Visit to the McKnight Brain Institute. This optional visit will consist of two parts, each lasting approximately 30 minutes: (1) A lecture on the physics of magnetic resonance imaging and an introduction to some of the research being performed at the Brain Institute, presented by Prof. Tom Mareci. (2) A tour of the Brain Institute's magnet facilities.

Those interest in participating in the tour should gather in the NPB main lobby at 1:00 pm sharp. The Brain Institute is a 10-minute walk each way, so consider bringing raingear in case of showers.
