Research Experiences for Undergraduates The Department of Physics at the University of Florida offers a 10-week summer research program for undergraduates contemplating a career in physics and related fields. This REU Site is supported by the National Science Foundation Division of Materials Research, the Department of Defense Awards to Stimulate and Support Undergraduate Research Education (DoD ASSURE) program, and the University of Florida. The Summer 2009 REU program will ran from May 26 through July 31. Fifteen participants conducted a research project in the department and took part in group activities including seminars on cutting-edge areas of physics; workshops focusing on graduate programs, career opportunities in the physical sciences, and scientific communication skills; and a field trip to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee.
