Graduate student Sid Abhinav was recently awarded the University of Florida Graduate Student Teaching Award for 2018-2019. These teaching awards are based on the teaching assistant’s contribution to course development, their instructional technique, and involvement with students. Sid will receive his award at a reception that will be held Tuesday, April 30th in the Friends of Music Room at the University Auditorium.
Robert Deserio, Director of Undergraduate Labs, nominated Sid for the award, “Sid Abhinav is a very talented instructor who likes working in the teaching labs where he can use the experimental equipment to teach physics in a different ways to students with different learning styles. His teaching philosophy is informed by modern education research and draws on his own non-traditional undergraduate education. He has high expectations for his students and is particularly successful at helping them meet or exceed those expectations. With their evaluations and comments, students showed their appreciation for Sid’s integrity, his warm and caring personality, and his teaching abilities.”
