UF Physics Undergrad Awarded the William Oegerle Scholarship in Physics and Astronomy

Congratulations to Christopher McKinney, an undergraduate student in UF’s Physics department, for being selected as one of the recipients of the William Oegerle Scholarship in Physics and Astronomy. Named after UF alumnus Dr. William Oegerle, this scholarship is designed to support undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional potential in conducting research in physics and/or astronomy.

Recipients of this scholarship have the opportunity to conduct research projects under the mentorship of faculty members in the Department of Physics or Astronomy. The support provided by the scholarship may include assistance with tuition, books, computers, and travel expenses for attending professional meetings to present research findings.

Christopher McKinney is collaborating with Professor Chris Stanton in the Physics department, working on a project titled “Time-resolved carrier dynamics in Ge-based heterostructures grown on GaAs.”

Congratulations to Christopher for this well-deserved recognition!
